Released earlier this year, “Danger! Journalists Crossing” tells the story of a group of Central American migrants in Mexico and how they join together to defend their rights. I collaborated on this video from its inception and helped the crew travel to Ixtepec, Oaxaca to film at the Hermanos en el Camino migrant shelter.
I discuss in an interview in this article in the Huffington Post some of the motivations behind the video. The video was born out of frustration with media narratives around migration and the dynamic I observed as a volunteer in Ixtepec, where “Media would arrive for their 24 hours, waiting to see if the train was coming around. They would get their shot and take off.”
And please check out the video. I am late sharing it, and after only three months there are almost 60,000 views!
